Maxfield, Los Angeles

Maxfield, Los Angeles

A striking grey block in the middle of LA – from the outside Maxfield may look like a somewhat forbidding fortress however its real attractive features are concealed within; treasures from the likes of Yamamoto, Comme des Garçons, Dolce & Gabbana and Jil Sander making it one of the west coast’s most beloved high-end fashion stores. Its reputation has spread to the Hollywood elite with big names stars such as Victoria Beckham, Lindsay Lohan and Katie Holmes being counted among the stores regular shoppers. In addition to shoes and designer furniture (think Gaudi chairs for example), Maxfield also boasts the largest vintage Hermès collection anywhere in the world. On trips to LA, Philipp Plein also makes a point of dropping in to snap up a few fashionable goodies and is a particular fan of the store’s „mix of vintage furniture and hot fashion.“

Harvey Nichols and KaDeWe, London and Berlin

It’s one of the most attractive and flashy stores in all of London and famous around the world for its unique window displays. Behind the noble façade are luxury departments spread over eight floors and as Carsten Schieck knows, ‘Harvey Nicks’ is always a step ahead of its competitors: “At Harvey Nichols you’ll always find the best choice of clothes from the established designers and also from the up and coming names on the scene.” But it’s not just London where Carsten Schieck likes to browse, he also likes to visit Ku’Damm’s most famous location: “I also like to shop at the KaDeWe, not least for the legendary gourmet food hall.” Around 500 employees are busy all day to ensure that the shelves in this department are always fully stocked and 100 chefs and 40 confectioners invite you to join them on a global taste experience. Bon voyage!

Felix, Hong Kong

This bar provides guests with delirious views, both inside and out. The exteriors: the magical Hong Kong skyline. The interiors: a Phillippe Starck designed bar.

In a city as crowded and chaotic as Hong Kong, you can sometimes loose sight of the sky, and even a sense of perspective. Especially when you’re always down on street level. Which is why it’s quite important to be able to get to the top of one of the city’s many skyscrapers from time to time, and look out to the horizon.
The 28th floor of the Peninsula Tower in central Hong Kong should do the trick.
There, where Bar Felix is located, you will find windows that run from floor to ceiling so that the views out over Hong Kong’s harbour are equally good from every vantage point.
And legendary French designer Phillipe Starck is responsible for the interiors, everything from the white bar stools and chairs to the huge fabric room dividers that separate the bar from the restaurant.
The best view in the whole place can be found at the slightly elevated, glowing bar. From there you’ll get not only a fantastic view of the city but also of the party goers inside of Felix itself.
